Chitra Divakaruni’s writing has appeared in over 50 magazines, including the Atlantic Monthly and The New Yorker (as well as, of course, the Indiana Review). Her writing has also been included in over thirty anthologies. She has won many different awards, including – but not limited to – the American Book Award in 1996, as well as the Allen Ginsberg Prize and Pushcart Prize in 1994. Divakaruni currently teaches in the nationally ranked Creative Writing program area at the University of Houston.

The Indiana Review published two pieces of Divakaruni’s poetry in Volume 14.1: “Indian Movie: New Jersey,” and “Outside Pisa.”
