Cornelius Eady is the author of six books of poetry.
Among the many prizes he has won, he has received a
Guggenheim fellowship, an NEA fellowship, and a Rockefeller
Foundation Fellowship. His 1991 collection of poetry,
The Gathering of My Name, was a 1992 Pulitzer Prize
nominee. He is co-founder, along with poet Toi Derricote,
of Cave Canem, a summer workshop/retreat for African-American
poets. He is currently director of the Creative Writing
Program at the University of Notre Dame. His most recent
book of poetry, Brutal Imagination, was published
in 2001.
His work appeared in the Indiana Review in
Volume
24.1, which featured two poems: “Manchild”
and “The Later Songs of Billy Holiday.”
