Philip Levine is a poet, essayist, and editor. Of his sixteen books of poetry, his collection The Simple Truth (1994) won the Pulitzer Prize. He edited The Essential Keats He has also won the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, as well as two Guggenheim Foundation Fellowships. He was elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets in 2000. His most recent collection of poetry is titled Breath and was published in 2004.

The Indiana Review published two poems of Levine’s in Volume 17.1. The first was titled “Holy Son and Mother of the Projects” and the second was “My Family Under Caesar.”
