Reginald Shepherd is the author of four books of poetry
and the editor of the recent Iowa Anthology of New
American Poetries. He has won the AWP Award in
Poetry for his first book, Some Are Drowning,
as well as grants from the NEA, the Illinois Arts Council,
and the Saltonstall and Vogelstein foundations. He also
has the distinct honor of being one of the most frequently
published Indiana Review authors, having appeared
in eight different issues of the magazine. His most
recent collection of poems, published in 2003, is titled
Otherhood. He also has an upcoming book of
poems, titled Fata Morgana, which will be published
in 2007.
His first appearance came in Volume 16.2, with the
poems “Nuages,” “A Man of Reason,”
and “Sunday.” This was followed by Volume
18.2, which featured the poems “Deep Water,”
“Depth of Field,” and “My Brother
the Rain.” Next was Volume 19.2, which featured
the poems “Geology of Water,” and “Prey.”
This was followed by two poems in Volume
21.1, “An Abbreviated History of Signs,”
and “Salt Point.” The poems “Refrain,”
and “Pear Tree, Bartlett, Quotations,” appeared
in Volume
22.2. Volume
24.1, contained a single poem by Mr. Shepherd, “My
Sister’s Snow.” He appeared next in Volume
25.1, which featured the poem “These Are the
Things.” His most recent appearance in the magazine
was in Volume
27.1, collaborating with Gene Tanta on the poems
“Romeo’s Half-Awake” and “Screen
Memory.”
