Poetry Prize Results: 2006
Final Judge: Yusef Komunyakaa

Yusef Komunyakaa was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, in 1947. He is the author of numerous books of poems including Neon Vernacular: New & Selected Poems 1977-1989 (1994), for which he received the Pulitzer Prize. In 1999 he was elected a Chancellor of The Academy of American Poets. His most recent book is Taboo (2004). Yusef Komunyakaa is Professor in the Council of Humanities and Creative Writing Program at Princeton University. He lives in New York City.
