Imagine You’re Not Alone

Aline Mello

You will need more than one bag of yucca flour.

Count ten eggs.

If your mother cannot join you,
if you have no daughter,
learn how to break them with one hand.

You will boil milk and oil.

When you sink your hands into the dough,
think of the hands that were there before yours.

Imagine you’re holding them.
